Our Divisions

When you join LAAS, you join a specific project team based on your interests and skills.

Aerospace Division
2 Active Projects

Design and build aircraft and rockets. Work with aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, and avionics on real flying and launch systems.

VTOL Aircraft — aerodynamics, structures, avionics
Liquid Rocket Engine — propulsion, thermodynamics, manufacturing
Automotive Division
1 Active Project

Engineer ultra-efficient vehicles. Work on powertrain systems, aerodynamic bodies, chassis design, and competition strategy.

Supermileage Car — powertrain, aerodynamics, chassis, controls

No! LAAS welcomes students from all majors and experience levels. Curiosity and motivation matter far more than prior experience. Our teams are designed to teach — you'll learn by doing alongside other members.
Project teams typically meet 2–4 hours per week, depending on the project phase. During intensive build or competition periods, commitment can increase temporarily. You're always in control of how much you contribute.
Yes. While most projects are engineering-focused, LAAS also needs members who can contribute to documentation, project management, design, communications, and sponsorship outreach. If you're passionate about aerospace or automotive, there's a role for you.
LAAS typically recruits at the start of each academic year. Check this page — when recruitment is open, the application form will be visible here. You can also follow @laas_aub on Instagram for announcements.

LAAS follows AUB student club policies. Any fees are nominal and go toward club operations and project materials. Details will be shared during onboarding.
